Swedish Heirloom Cookies

½ cup shortening

½ cup butter

1 cup confectioners sugar

½ tsp salt

1 ¼ cup ground walnuts or almonds

2 cups flour

1 tbsp water

1 tbsp vanilla

Cream together the shortening, butter, sugar and salt.  Add in the nuts and then gradually add the flour.  Mix thoroughly before adding the water and vanilla.  Shape tablespoon of dough into balls or crescents.  Place on un-greased cookie sheet and flatten slightly.

Bake at 325 for 12 to 15 minutes.  Roll in confectioners sugar while cookies are still warm.  Makes about 4 ½ dozen.
