Sunshine Cake

This cake is from my mother’s family; it is wonderful!

1 1/3 cups egg whites

1 ½ tsp cream of tartar

1 ½ cup sugar

9 egg yolks

1 tsp vanilla

½ tsp almond extract

1 cup sifted cake flour

Beat egg whites until foamy, add cream of tartar and ½ cup sugar, slowly beat until stiff and set aside.  Beat egg yolks until lemon colored, add 1 cup sugar, vanilla and almond.  Fold in flour and then egg whites.  Bake in ungreased tube pan at 325 degrees for 30 minutes.
